Spiritual Development & Wellness Retreats

It remains the dream of every life to realize itself, to reach out and lift itself up to greater heights. There is within each heart a hidden voice that calls out for freedom and creativity. We often linger for years in spaces that are too small and shabby for the grandeur of our spirit.

- John O’Donohue

My belief is that by attending to our spiritual growth we walk a path that leads to a life of fulfilment and integrity. No one can ‘do’ spiritual growth but I have learnt a great deal about practices and approaches from various traditions that support reflection, engagement and growth. The basis for the approach that I take is Theological Reflection.

I can offer sessions developed particularly for your group that:

  • Encourage alignment of values and action,
  • Respect the sacredness of each person and their life journey,
  • Balance input with sharing and reflection
  • Engage, inform and enable application in life and work.

I have a portfolio of over 40 Reflection Days and themes that I have facilitated. Many of these draw on elements or themes from the Catholic Tradition, others are broader and include:

Bridging the Gap between Spirituality and Religion

Participants explore the natural yearning for meaning and engagement before investigating a framework for understanding the differences and connections between spirituality and religion. The framework offers a way to understand personal spirituality, current trends in society and enables participants to set a direction for growth and integration.

Being Spiritual Matters

Research affirms that living with meaning and purpose enriches life, fosters resilience and impacts on wellbeing. This session present some key ways to develop spirituality as individuals and as a group, and to ultimately grow as healthy, whole and balanced individuals with fulfilling personal and professional lives.

In recent years I have collaboratively developed more substantial programs that have included four two day residential sessions over a year. The content of these programs has been structured around content and topics that relate either to the charism of the sponsoring group or to meaningful theological themes. Processes used include story, reflection, sharing, input, creative activities, ritual, developing community, mentoring and service learning.
