I hope you have enjoyed the holidays and been refreshed by your celebrations of Easter. One thing I especially enjoyed was a family picnic day that included some attempts at catching fish and lots of sunshine, chatting and sharing of food.

Keeping healthy seems easy enough but it does mean more than eating sensibly. Having time with family is valuable as is having some fun and relaxation. I wonder how you are going with this aspect of your life. Do you get enough sleep? One reminder I had recently was to reflect on what you do before you set off for bed. A young mother spoke of how she settled her children for bed with a lovely routine of bathing, stories and a massage. I’m very inclined to just do just last thing on the computer …. and to activate my brain into high speed … when I get to bed I wonder why it takes me ages to get to sleep! Part of being healthy is nurturing your spirituality. At a recent retreat I discussed an idea about beginning a book club with a difference. Initially the process will be to use a particular book written by Joan Chittester, “Monastery of the Heart” and to read and reflect on the chapters. Each month the group will gather for discussion about how the ideas presented challenge and deepen our approach to living a spiritual life. Interested? Minimal cost involved.
